Rainy season
According to Kaisa's trustworthy Lonely Planet guidebook June is the rainy season in Japan, but it doesn't rain every day. As May turned to June and Maki had to leave us to go back to work it's rained for three days out of four, so we're anxiously awaiting that non-rainy day. The sleeping bags are still dry(ish), though, so we've continued camping at playgrounds, sports fields and parks. The reactions have been surprise and amusement, but no one's seemed that upset about bumping into our little green tent on their morning walk.
And when we say morning walk, we really mean morning! We've been waking up early, around 6 AM, and every time we open the tent's zipper someone's already getting their exercise nearby.
