Oranges!

Somehow we had never thought of oranges as a Japanese speciality, but it turns out that we've been cycling through several areas where they're grown on the steep, sunny hills. We had some excellent fresh orange juice on the day we cycled the Shimanami Kaido, and today Kaisa insisted on buying a bag of oranges from this table set up in the old quarters of Hagi. The fruit had a thick skin, lots of seeds and a wonderful, strong taste. We imagined that this is what a wild orange would taste like, as opposed to the tame ones brought home from the supermarket in Finland. Yummy!
